An upmarket wine bar in the 6th, belonging to the Experimental Cocktail Club group.
Another one of my favourite wine bars in Paris. In case you haven’t realised yet, I have many favourites but this is a trusty fall-back bar where I have celebrated my birthday (twice!), held my work-leaving party, come with friends, lovers, colleagues, even an ex once.
A stylish but informal vibe. You step inside and if you’re lucky enough to find a free table, or intelligent enough to have reserved one in advance, you know that the whole evening is likely to pass by in a flash (unless you’re with an ex, in which case, who knows!)
The lighting is dim, the colours bold, wines are available by the glass and the bottle. Special mention goes to the Mystery Wine (“vin mystere“) in the oenomatic machine. The idea is that if you guess what the wine is (it has to be something on their wine list) you get the whole bottle for free. Always fun to have a pop.
There’s not an extensive food range but what there is is absolutely delicious – prosciutto with truffles, a bowl of runny burratta, beef tartare, and for those with a sweet tooth: an exquisite tarte au chocolat or even the tarte au citron from Jacques Genin. The menu changes often so you won’t get bored. Highly recommended.
